| Charisma and optimism are just some of the few things that Naruto has to offer if you're looking at him as a person. Those who've known him since childhood will categorize him as a joker, a prankster, a laugher and an all-around obnoxious grievance to all those without hearing problems. He is ego-stricken and rash, inhumanly energetic and thick-headed with a rather astounding sexual appetite. He is perverse by nature and education, overly empathetic, sometimes hyper-emotional and often unreasonable and overly romantic.
But, as a yakuza (and the leader-in-training of the Konohagumi), Naruto is unconventionally brilliant. Alienated as he is accustomed to being by his bright-eyed attitude and Westernized physical characteristics, the Uzumaki has created a lovable monster of himself, one equipped with the claws of a fearsome, underhanded intellect, one that people don't expect because of how foolish he comes off. Naruto - better known as Kyuubi among those of his street clique - has learned that perception can be made into weaponry just as easily as anything, and so has molded himself into something incredibly dangerous and volatile to those that need to be dealt with cruelly.
Cruelty, of course, is not Naruto's style, really; he's the product of machine-gun-weilding-peace-lovers it seems, and is a real softy at heart. That heart, though, is one he guards jealousy, behind walls and walls of power and alternate personas. His true friends are far, few between, and more precious to him than breath, and so he keeps them closer to him than he keeps anything; but those that he associates with the word "family" he has chosen himself, and assembled with affection.
To summarize, Naruto is a lovable knife in a fresh-made wound.
And the other gangs loathe him.
